Social Thinking

Social Language Assessment and Treatment based on Social Thinking®.

Dive Into Social

in Palm Beach County, Florida

I have over 20 years of experience helping children and young adults with social communication disorders. My primary teaching methodology is based on Social Thinking® concepts, developed by Michelle Garcia Winner, an award-winning, internationally recognized speech language pathologist.

I help children ages 5 and up, teens, and young adults learn to navigate the social world and make sense of social environments, common situations, and friendships. I help my clients feel more comfortable, competent, and in control. Assessments consist of both standardized and informal assessments that are tailored to each client’s needs. These assessment results are used to create a targeted, measurable treatment plan. I collaborate with families and other professionals to share information and techniques.

Using evidence-based strategies, I help my clients improve their social competencies, including:

- Emotional Vocabulary
- Self understanding
- Hidden social rules and expectations
- Self-regulation
- Executive Functioning
- Perspective Taking
- Social Problem Solving

How does Social Thinking® Work?

The Social Thinking® framework helps a person better understand himself or herself so s/he can foster relationships and successfully navigate the social world at home, in school, and at work. Using the program’s unique tools, I help clients break down complex social concepts into understandable, manageable parts that can be applied to everyday settings. The results can be life-changing for both clients and their families.

Leslie has done outstanding work with our daughter. They have been working together for 3 years and our daughter has gone from highly emotional and having tantrums to being able to tell us how she is feeling and what she needs. Leslie has taught her tools all under the guise of play. Leslie structures her sessions and always has a plan but is flexible and can adjust when needed. I highly recommend working with her.
